Reminder: Fireworks are Prohibited

Reminder to Village of Sayward Residents: Fireworks are currently prohibited in the Coastal Fire Centre jurisdiction, which includes Sayward. In addition, Fireworks Regulation Bylaw No. 481, 2022 is in effect and will be enforced at all times.



Please note: "No individual shall explode, light, activate, fire or discharge Fireworks within the boundaries of the Village unless that individual is authorized to do so under a valid Fireworks Permit issued under this Bylaw."

Anyone who lights, fuels or uses an open fire when a fire prohibition is in place or fails to comply with an open fire prohibition may be issued a ticket in accordance to the Village of Sayward Ticketing Bylaw or, if convicted in court, be fined up to $100,000 and/or sentenced to one year in jail. If the contravention causes or contributes to a wildfire, the person responsible may be subject to a penalty of up to $100,000 and ordered to pay all firefighting and associated costs.
