At approximately 11 pm on July 8 the Sayward Volunteer Fire Department responded to a boat that was on fire in the Sayward Marina. The responders worked several hours to contain the fire until the Coast Guard arrived and towed the burning vessel out to the estuary just ahead of several small explosions on board. The vessel was secured and monitored and the situation is now considered stable. The investigation as to what caused the fire is now underway. We thank all of the emergency responders and volunteers who assisted with this emergency. Another job well done by our first responders. Thank you to everyone who helped and responded.
