The Village of Sayward Official Community Plan (OCP) is currently under review. The plan was adopted in 2000 and a review is required to update the plan to allow for future growth. Council awarded the contract to Urban Systems in February 2021 and the work is expected to wrap up in September 2021. The revised plan will provide a shared vision for what Sayward could look like in 2041, and is shaping up to be a growth-oriented plan with options for alternative housing, protection of the natural environment, and areas for commercial development and employment lands. Once completed, the OCP will provide elected officials and staff with clear direction and a framework to implement policies and development plans in the future. Take some time to read through the Final Background Report and final analysis of the household survey completed by Urban Systems in April and May 2021. We hope citizens will continue to stay engaged and attend the public engagement workshops planned for July or August 2021.
