ESS provides short term assistance to British Columbians who are forced out of their homes due to fires, floods, earthquakes or other emergencies. Assistance may include food, lodging, clothing, emotional support, and family reunification services.
The Village of Sayward ESS Team is committed to helping those affected by emergencies throughout the Village and Valley. Their role is to help people during a very difficult and stressful time in their lives.
Volunteer Information
ESS Volunteers are people committed to the wellbeing of others. There are many rolls that volunteers can help fill within the ESS team:
- Registering evacuees
- Connecting family & friends
- Providing food & lodging
- Allocating resources and support at Reception Centres
- Scheduling tasks and people
Emergencies can happen at day or night throughout the year. ESS volunteers should be flexible, responsible, accountable and physically and emotionally capable of handling the demands placed on them during emergencies.
