Sayward Futures Society

Sayward Futures Society (SFS) is a dedicated non-profit responsible for the long-term sustainable operation of the Kelsey Bay Wharf, the vibrant trail networks, and outdoor opportunities thereby introducing the world to the Sayward region.

SFS operates the Kelsey Bay Wharf, the Oceanview Gallery & Cafe as well as the Sayward Visitors Centre located in Al’s Room, both located on the wharf and currently oversee the Kusam Klimb, and Sayward’s Canada Day celebrations.

Sayward Futures Society also manage the operation and maintenance of:

Stewart Lake Campground

Fishing, canoeing, trails

Tlowils Lake Campground
21 km south from the Sayward Junction
5 sites
Fishing, canoeing

Santa Maria Day Use Site
7 km from the Sayward Junction
No overnight camping
Fishing, canoeing

All of these sites can be found in Recreation Sites and Trails BC (NOT in BC Parks).

They all have pit toilets, tables and fire rings and there are no fees or registrations or reservations. Users must bring their own firewood. They are user-maintained, meaning campers should clean up after themselves and pack out their garbage.

Please Note: Signage to the sites is, in some cases, sub-standard and the facilities within the sites (i.e. the picnic tables) need some major repair. It is recommended that persons with larger RVs NOT use the Tlowils lake or Stewart Lake campgrounds as the individual sites are very small (suitable for a tent or a camper) and the road access is by logging roads which are steep and narrow in many places.
